Welcome back! The Torch is lit…are you ready to add your name to the flame?
Article by The Torch Staff
Well, folks, another summer has come and gone. Whether you took the term off or kept on grinding away at those classes; whether you are only beginning your college journey this fall or this is your last term on your way out the door — we’d like to give you a big welcome (back) to LCC!
And while The Torch didn’t print over the summer, we had a skeleton crew here all summer long: planning, plotting, and laying a solid foundation for a successful ‘25/’26 school year and beyond.
Over summer term, we revamped our onboarding process and recreated all of our policies, procedures and job descriptions. These were things that our current editors did not have the advantage of already having in place when they came on, and it has been a monumental task to sort this place out.
As a result, there was definitely chaos and confusion as we added team members last year, and for that, we apologize!
In light of this, anyone who was working with us last year and wants to continue in the fall will be re-onboarded along with anyone new who joins us. That way, we can charge into the new school year as a united front, where we all know what we are doing and what to expect from each other.
We are ready to take on the challenge of returning The Torch to its former glory as a top-tier community college publication, both in print and online.
It is our goal to grow into a newspaper that doesn’t just inform and entertain, but one that asks fearless questions to hold our leadership accountable, shines a light on our amazing students who are the reason this college exists, and listens to our readers to report on the issues that matter to them.
Are you ready to join us?
