On Jan. 12, the Black Student Union hosted an event in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr., with keynote speaker, Dr. Ivory A. Toldson (Presidential appointed advisor on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, at LCC.
This event is one of many the BSU hosts, co-organizes and collaborates with other educational organizations aimed at community engagement and support for students. Last December, the BSU organized a free private screening of the movie, “Till“, with local schools and students that were interested in attending the event. Rites of Passage is a summer camp/mentoring program at LCC for middle school to high school aged students, also organized and maintained by the BSU.
