Psycho Goreman 2

I would love to tell you that this is a coming-of-age film. Just as much as I would enjoy telling you lessons are learned, or maybe people become better versions of themselves; but they do not. This great thriller has a wonderful lack of holding itself back, and if you are a fan of just about any 80s monster movie, this movie was made for you — chock full of 80s throwback and creative costume work that will remind you of a time before CGI. Prepare yourself for a dark, yet hilarious storyline that will have you laughing, and a bit confused, the whole way through.

The 12-year-old lead, Nita-Josee Hanna, as Mimi, and supporting actor, Owen Myre, playing MImi’s brother Luke, come together as a hilarious team. Mimi is at the helm of this destructive masterpiece with the leading monster, Psycho Goreman, or PG for short, the maker of nightmares and dark worldly destruction.

This storyline is full of unexpected, dark, sharp turns and abnormal comedy, like PG getting upset when his magazine full of “hunky boys” gets destroyed, it’s sure to shock you and make you laugh your way through. Even if you are not a fan of horror, there is plenty of entertainment in this film as the young, up-and-coming female lead pushes you through her narcissistic story. As you get to spend some time with Mimi and her fun psychotic ways, her narrative amplifies as she takes control of the most murderous and destructive monster in the universe. You will either learn to love or hate her, but by the end, she will leave you astonished with her talent and ability to keep you laughing, and maybe crying.

All in all, this low-budget shudder film does a great job keeping the watcher entertained without ever taking itself too seriously. With the mixture of 80s nostalgia and incredible young leads, I have a good feeling that this movie will leave any viewer satisfied, or at the least, have you saying I’ve never seen anything quite like it. The confidence and no-holds-barred acting of the young female lead will have you laughing and impressed. I’m confident in saying this movie is a must see. CONTENT WARNING, just because the lead roles are played by 12-year-old kids, does not mean this movie is appropriate for that age, this film definitely drops itself right into the R rating.
