Tom Lynsco is a pumpkin carver in Oregon. He works at the 5th Street Market. Lynsco has a massive pumpkin he was working on, carving three witches around a cauldron. What got Lynsco interested in pumpkin carving was seeing someone else carving at the 5th Street Market 14 years ago and was inspired to try it himself. He looked into Halloween Wars and saw the tools they were using and took it from there.
Tom had friends help him grow his skills in pumpkin carving when he started out. The advice he gives to everyone is, “It only takes 10 bucks worth of tools and you can carve year around on sweet potato and butternut squash; use clay tools because they do a much better job than knives, but you have to sharpen them every now and then.’’
Lynsco comes over each year to carve pumpkins for fun and for all of the visitors to see his work. He sets up near the main entrance to the water fountain.
