LP Giobbi isn’t just a DJ she’s a commanding force of energy and mystique, a true queen of her craft. Her Nov. 27 stop at the WOW Hall during the “Way Back Home Tour” proved that her EDM rave music is perfectly suited for the venue’s intimate yet dynamic atmosphere. The show was a full sensory experience, packed with unexpected twists that left the audience mesmerized.
The stage setup was a departure from the WOW Hall’s norm, featuring a central platform that allowed fans a 360-degree view of the DJ in her element. This stage is the reason for this event being changed from the Mcdonald Theater to the WOW hall as the Mcdonald Theater didn’t support this kind of set up. Surrounded by ordinary house lamps that pulsed in hypnotic, unexpected patterns, the atmosphere was immersive and trippy. LP Giobbi delivered a performance that was equal parts art installation and high-energy dance party, captivating the crowd with her signature mix of beats and theatrics.
The night began with opening acts LE Chev and Mascolo, who set the tone with a blend of cool, rhythmic melodies and deep, resonant bass. They laid the groundwork for the electrifying energy to come. When LP Giobbi took the stage, she did so with undeniable flair, draped in a white fur coat and sunglasses. She shed the coat as she stepped onto her platform, eventually kicking off her shoes to connect with the music barefoot, channeling the rhythm with every move.
Behind her, the stage transformed into a powerful visual backdrop. Videos of women’s rights protests from across the decades played alongside live footage of her performance, captured by cameras mounted on her setup and the ceiling. The result was an immersive and deeply moving experience. The crowd an eclectic mix of ages, from young children to seniors packed the dance floor, embodying Eugene’s free-spirited, inclusive vibe. It was a night of unity, energy and pure musical celebration.
LP Giobbi elevated the experience with live music elements, showcasing her exceptional keyboard skills and blending them with her DJ set. Her talent as both a musician and a performer was undeniable, as she commanded the stage with such passion and authenticity that it felt as though she was destined to perform there forever.
LP Giobbi’s presence extended beyond the music. A dollar from every ticket sold went to Femme House, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit she founded to advocate for gender equity in electronic music. She also heads her record label, Yes Yes Yes (a Defected Records imprint), which champions artistic freedom. Her values shone through every moment of her performance, from her passionate energy on stage to her playbill, which featured a set of “House Rules”:
“WE RESPECT ALL AGES. WE RESPECT ALL BODY TYPES. WE RESPECT ALL SEXUALITIES. THIS IS A SAFE SPACE FOR WOMEN & GENDER-EXPANSIVE FOLKS. THIS IS A SAFE SPACE FOR ALL RACES AND GENDERS.”
These bold, unapologetic statements reflected her commitment to inclusivity and equality. Another standout in her playbill read: “Thank you for spending your most valuable currency with us: your time.” This heartfelt message made concertgoers feel genuinely appreciated an uncommon touch that added to the night’s magic.
LP Giobbi didn’t just perform; she created an experience. It was a show that embodied her artistry, her values, and her undeniable ability to connect with every person in the room.
