Oregon Governor Kate Brown has initiated a second lockdown in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19. The lockdown started on Nov. 18, and runs through December 2, with a potential extension.
State parks and campgrounds will not be shut down unlike the first order in March. Brown has enacted stricter regulations: mandating face masks, gatherings of no more than six people, from no more than two households as well as giving yourself plenty of space from other groups.
Oregon state parks had a great loss of revenue with an estimate of over $22 million earlier in the year compared to the estimated $1.1 billion. Taking a toll on staffing and seasonal volunteers and forcing parks to limit the usage of some areas and buildings. According to Oregon state parks, visitors should expect and plan for some restrooms and showering facilities to be closed as well as booths and visitor centers.
