May 19, 1970

In May 1970 the national guard opened fire at Kent State and killed four students who were protesting the Vietnam War, the Beatles released their final studio album Let It Be, and LCC was electing their student government while voicing concerns to the LCC Board.

May 6, 1988

Adele, singer of hit songs like “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You” was born in London, President Reagan and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev began talks in Moscow, and LCC invited Soviet athletes to campus.

May 5, 1995

This is How We Do It by Montell Jordan was at the top of the charts, Braveheart premiered at the Seattle Film Festival, and The Torch was reporting on elections and the IRS cracking down on student loan defaulters. 

May 2, 2018

Kanye West signaled his right wing descent by saying “slavery was a choice” on TMZ, President Donald Trump was meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un, and LCC was reporting on the surge of women running for public office.
