The phenomenon that is Hamilton made its debut in Eugene on September 13. The excitement resonated throughout downtown with signs advertising the historic musical. The Hult Center is providing 11 nights of performances, every night, except Monday, until September 25.

The traveling ensemble has big shoes to fill, considering the Broadway performance is one of the most popular shows of all time, but the performance is nothing short of excellent. Morgan Anita Wood gave a profoundly heartbreaking performance as Eliza Hamilton. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as she cried out for her son after his duel. Deaundre’ Woods gave Lin Manuel Miranda a run for his money as Alexander himself. Rick Negron played the perfect King George, he was elegant and humorous and his voice filled the room.

“It’s great to have a show of this caliber, the energy of the audience is outstanding. It’s awesome to see them come out of the theater grinning ear to ear, of course some have handkerchiefs on their eyes as they leave. We really get to see a rollercoaster of emotions from audience members,” said Rich Hobby, the Director of Communications at the Hult Center. Hobby was grateful to have been able to help bring Hamilton to Eugene.

Although the shows are nearly sold out every night, there are still some seats available. The venue has a capacity of 2447. Tickets that are available range from around $49 for upper balcony seats, to over $249 for orchestra seats. There are also day-of rush tickets for students, military, educators and first responders. More information on that can be found on the Hult Center’s website.
