At 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday Feb. 22, LCC sent out a campus alert about a possible armed individual on the main campus on 30th Avenue. The campus went into lockdown until 3:30 p.m. Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded. They searched the buildings and found no credible threat.
LCC President Stephanie Bulger sent out an email to all students after the lockdown had been lifted, “I want to thank Public Safety, our employees, students, and area law enforcement for their response. Although we regularly train for an event such as this, we hope to never need these skills. Everyone responded admirably.”
President Bulger also announced that any student who would like space to process the events can contact the Student Support Hub. The Hub will be open tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
This is an ongoing story and we will update with any information we receive from Lane County Sheriff’s or Eugene Police.
