Over the past two years the people of Oregon have struggled and faced many adversities. From adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic to losing their financial income. We were faced with many trials that impacted our community as a whole.

The one significant issue which continued on a steady decline was the health of our environment. Climate change has been on the rise and it needs to be addressed. One example of how dire the climate change situation is the recent wildfires that spread rampantly across the western coast of the United States.

Despite the challenges people have been in pursuit of working towards a future where we live in a world that survives on clean energy. Over the summer Oregon became part of the eight states that committed to the implementation of renewable electricity. This was a great start in progress to a cleaner future but we should take the next step by investing in fully renewable energy.

I believe that we play a pivotal role in creating change. This change would not only be beneficial to us, but it can definitely be a catalyst for a safer and better future for the generations to come. Let’s work hand in hand to transform Oregon into a land that runs on renewable energy.
