According to AirNow.gov the Air Quality Index in Eugene is currently 130 which is described as unhealthy to sensitive groups. In southern Lane County near Cottage Grove the AQI is over 160 which is considered dangerous. The Cedar Creek fire near Oakridge has burned almost 123,000 acres and Eugene is in the line of smoke. The city of Eugene wants folks to know that several facilities are open that can provide relief.

The Downtown Library is open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. It is located at 100 W. 10th Avenue Eugene, OR 97401.

The Hilyard Community Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and is located at 2580 Hilyard St.

The Campbell Community Center is located at 155 High St and is open 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. on Mondays and 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Outdoor city recreation programs are cancelled when the Air Quality Index reaches 150. Sensitive groups are advised to limit time outdoors and avoid strenuous outdoor activities. In areas with higher AQI everyone is advised to limit time spent outdoors.
