Saturday Feb. 8 at Titan Coliseum, the Lane men’s basketball team fell to the Clackamas Cougars 91-81 losing their fourth-straight game. The Titans will look to bounce back Wednesday night in Coos Bay vs the Southwestern Oregon Lakers (9-12, 4-6).

Freshman guard Isaac Lange led all scorers with a career high 27 points and pulled down 7 rebounds — but it was not enough for the Titans.

Struggling from the field in the first half, the Titans only shot 33%. Clackamas came out hot, knocked down 53% of their shots, and grabbed 24 rebounds to the Titans’ 12. Trailing by as much as 22 points in the first half, Lane went into halftime down by 15.

The Titans shot better in the second half shooting 50% from beyond the arc, but continued to struggle down low, giving up 38 points in the paint. Lane gave up 19 offensive rebounds leading to 20 second-chance points for the Cougars while the Titans finished with only four.

Overall, the Cougars were in control throughout the game holding a double-digit lead for most of the night. The Titans had a couple of short runs in the second half, but those would ultimately be answered with big shots from Clackamas’ offense.

Cougars guard Robert Ford had a fantastic night leading the team in scoring, rebounds and assists. Putting up 26 points, Ford also grabbed 15 boards and 8 assists in the victory. The Clackamas win elevated the team to first place in the division.

With the loss, the Titans’ record dropped to 11-11 and 2-9 in conference play.

With the season winding down, Lane’s playoff chances look bleak. Currently sitting in eighth place with only five games left, Lane’s fate is now out of their hands.
